Barnaby graduated from Exeter University in 1991 with a degree in Fine Art and French. Since then he has exhibited and lectured both within the UK and farther afield.

After showing individual paintings in several multi-artist exhibitions, Barnaby’s first solo show was at the Blue Lias gallery in Lyme Regis. He was subsequently invited to become one third of the sellout Three West Country Artists show. Following on from that, Devon’s Kingfisher Gallery held a major exhibition of his work encompassing thirty new paintings. He continues to exhibit at various shows and his pictures hang in galleries and private collections in Britain and around the world.

Barnaby also lectures on art history and art techniques, giving talks on subjects as diverse as European Narrative Painting, Pastel Techniques, Victorian Sea Paintings, Life Drawing, and Greek and Roman Myths in Western Art. He has given practical tuition both to individuals and to groups, running a well-attended series of art workshops on landscape, figure and still life.

While the majority of his commissions are portraits or landscapes, Barnaby has also been hired to illustrate books, design theatre posters, provide plates for magazines, paint pets, design greetings cards, sketch houses, paint murals, illustrate vinyl albums and CDs, and much more besides.
