Omari Douglas

£375.00

Omari Douglas (born 1994) is a rising star of the British stage and screen. Having begun his career playing small roles at London venues including the Old Vic and the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, his breakthrough came when he was cast as Roscoe Babatunde, the flamboyant club kid with attitude in Russell T Davies’s Channel 4 drama It’s a Sin, set during the early years of the AIDS pandemic. All the gay roles in It’s a Sin were played by gay actors, and of his own contribution, Omari said: ‘I think there’s something really important about seeing a proudly gay Black man in a period context.’ The most talked-about television drama of 2021, It’s a Sin was showered with awards and made an overnight star of Omari, who went on to star in Constellations at the Donmar Warehouse and Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre in London’s West End. Recent TV credits include Nolly and I Hate Suzie Too, while 2023 sees the release of his first two feature films: the romantic comedy Rye Lane, and the Brian Epstein biopic Midas Man.
